Why is the vegetable crisper drawer in my fridge TINTED?
When I try to look through it to see my broccoli I have the same feeling as when I peer into the window of a stretch limo as it goes by. I mean, how much privacy does a vegetable need? What’s going on in there that should be shaded behind tinted glass?
Is the zucchini selling crack to the bok choy? Or maybe it’s that the bok choy is getting bonked? What?
Enough. You know what? They’re all going in the garbage. Something about these guys smells rotten.

I love the question “How much privacy does a vegetable need?”. It sounds like a serious article you would see in the food section of the New York Times.

You cartoonists crack me up. I’ve never even thought about why that drawer is always tinted.
Maybe its a conspiracy between the veggie growers and the frig makers – if we can’t see the veggies we won’t use them, and then we’ll have to buy more. Think there might be a kick-back involved?

Rina,
You are hilarious! I’ll never look at my veggie drawers the same, now. And what about that little lever? It’s like some placebo thing that makes you feel the veggies will stay fresher if it’s in one position or the other which I can never remember. I’ve tried it at both, and neither seems to make a bit of difference!
